This is a 2 nights, 3 days Gorilla trekking safari from Kampala/Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for Gorilla trekking in Uganda and a visit to Lake Bunyonyi for an adventurous boat cruise, community tours, and breathtaking scenic views. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi for this itinerary can be done in the regions or sectors of Rushaga, and Nkuringo, making it easier for the Lake Bunyonyi connection.
This Gorilla trekking safari can be customized to suit your specific needs and budget. It can be organized on a budget, mid-range, or luxury basis as you enjoy Uganda’s magical experiences and diversity from landscapes, birds, water bodies, and so much more.
Detailed Itinerary
DAY 1: DRIVE TO BWINDI NATIONAL PARK, EQUATOR, AND IGONGO CULTURAL CENTER STOPS
This is generally a travel day to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It starts with a pick-up from your designated hotel after breakfast, and we embark on this amazing lifetime adventure. We make stops at the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe for pictures at the Equator, craft shopping, and souvenirs.
We then stop at the Igongo Cultural Center for an immersive traditional lunch experience, after which we proceed with the drive to Bwindi for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
DAY 2: GORILLA TREKKING AND TRANSFER TO LAKE BUNYONYI FOR EVENING BOAT CRUISE
This is the day for Gorilla trekking, have an early morning breakfast and packed lunch and start the journey to the Park Headquarters for a briefing at 8 Am about the history of Gorillas and trekking in Bwindi, Gorilla behavior, Gorilla trekking rules and regulations, conservation, and more.
The trekking exercise may take anywhere from 2 to 8 hours. After finding the Gorilla family, you spend an hour with Gorillas for interaction, observing, photography, and enjoying coming face to face with the beautiful mountain Gorillas usually from a 3-meter distance.
On arrival at Lake Bunyonyi, check-in to your hotel, freshen up, and take a rest before going for an evening boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi as you enjoy the wonders on nature, birding, and so much more.
DAY 3: TRANSFER FROM LAKE BUNYONYI BACK TO ENTEBBE FOR DEPARTURE
This is the final day of the trip, you will do a drive back to Entebbe through the magical highlands of Kigezi covered with mist in the morning before continuing through the impressive Southwestern Uganda landscapes of Ntungamo.
We shall stop at the Igongo Cultural Centre for yet another traditional meal before making another stop at the Uganda Equator crossing at Kayabwe en route to Entebbe for your departure flight.
